Why a Swiss Bitcoin Institute?

Switzerland shares more values with Bitcoin than any other country. They may help to smoothen the monetary transition ahead of us, if played right.

Both, Switzerland and Bitcoin, are built on the principles of sovereignty, ensuring independence and self-determination; political neutrality, fostering trust and stability in a global context; and consensus governance, where decisions are made inclusively and collaboratively. Decentralized political power is a hallmark of both Switzerland’s federal system and Bitcoin’s distributed network, reducing the risks of power concentration. Finally, liberty and freedom are at the core, empowering individuals and communities to act autonomously—values that define both Swiss society and the Bitcoin ethos.

Bitcoin has the potential to emerge as the next monetary system that will propel the world (and Switzerland) into a more sustainable, peaceful and prosperous future for generations to come.

The shared foundations position Switzerland well to emerge smoother from this transition and take a lead in the new era. But only if we play it right – and leaders and decision-makers across all sectors will play a crucial role in this.

Playing it right means two things: upholding the shared values throughout and mastering the transition with serenity. The Swiss Bitcoin Institute is dedicated to help with both: be a critical independent observer and offer a helping hand where we can.
